Camels retain Qatar 7s League
Camels retained the Qatar Sevens League, beating Doha 22-5 in the final at the Aspire ground last week.
It was a repeat of last year’s final, which Camels won 38-12.
Former Fiji international Orisi Sareki scored two tries and a conversion, before Doha captain Elliot Johnston pulled off a try at the stroke of half time (12-5).
MVP Tope Tansake added another try while Badar made it 22-5.
“We had a good preparation since the tournament began early this month. We’re happy to retain the title,” said Camels captain Iliesa Rakabu.
Doha captain Johnston exuded confidence that the final will help them play well at the three-day Dubai tournament, which starts on December 1.
“Camels are a difficult team to beat, but the match helped us to prepare for the Dubai 7s,” he added.
Earlier, Camels thrashed Stallions 41-5 in the semifinal while Doha outclassed Lions 38-7.
Lions later hammered Stallions 41-0 in the Plate Final.
Blue Phoenix and Pirates, who finished fifth and sixth, played the Bowls Final, where the former won 38-0.
