Qatar to host Asia Rugby Development Sevens Series

Qatar will host the second leg of the Asia Rugby Development Sevens Series at the Aspire grounds on March 3 and 4.

The first leg of the series will be held in Thailand on February 18 and 19.

The annual competition, held under the aegis of Asia Rugby, started in 2009 and will determine the qualifier for the Asia Rugby Sevens.

“We’re happy to host this prestigious competition. We hope to deliver a successful tournament. We also want to consolidate Qatar’s position as one of the upcoming countries in the sport,” said Qatar Rugby Federation (QRF) President Yousef Jeham Al Kuwari.

Besides the hosts, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, the UAE, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Nepal and Singapore are the other competing nations.

Meanwhile, the QRF will hold a selection camp at the Aspire grounds on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday from 6.15pm to 8.30pm.
